I don’t advocating attacking cops but when a bad cop gets his, it’s satisfying. Plus he was attacked by a foot of its own volition.
This page took awhile and guess what? I tried a few new techniques. The paper texture is gone, replaced by a textured halftone (thanks to this tutorial). This was inspired by Andrew Maclean’s texture & coloring in Apocalyptigirl (ref link, check one of its pages to the right).
I like the art in it so much that I considered coloring like it too. I couldn’t tell if it was analog, or digital watercolor with a canvas texture. So I asked & got an answer straight from the horse’s mouth:
Sort of. I drew on watercolor paper, then toned it with black watercolor, basically an ink wash effect, then colored digitally, and topped it off with a very fine digital color halftone effect.

So guess who tried shading using a digital watercolor brush even though he’s never cel shaded a single thing, like ever? That didn’t go so well, which is why you don’t see any shading anywhere – except on the kicked cop because I felt momentarily inspired.
Glad this page is done, though, it’s taken long enough. I dig the colors & texture. And I learned how to make things glow.
Maybe for the next page I won’t take forever and I’ll draw some backgrounds. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the next page again looks stylistically different from all the ones before it!
